Ari & Amy Lund, Marie Gabrielle, Dallas, TX Photography by F8, www.f8studio.com |
Ari and Amy were married on a rainy day in Dallas, TX on June 16th, 2007. I like this pic of Amy and Ari because you get a feel for their gentle souls. They both had amazing families and so much support that I knew from the very beginning that this was going to be an unforgettable evening.

Marie Gabrielle was the setting for this big occassion. I've been to a number of weddings at this downtown Dallas restaurant, both as a DJ and as a guest, and I really like the vibe and staff here...always a first class event.

Rain...time to execute plan B. Summer 2007 will go down in the history books as being an unpredictably, rainy one...not to mention the snow flurries we had on Saturday, April 7th at outside wedding receptions all over town. I included this picture for obvious reasons. If you have a backup plan for your outside wedding with your venue and entertainment crew, then you can ensure sucess.
We simply moved it inside to our plan B location and it went great! About 80% of the guests that arrived at the last minute (like so many do), had no clue that this was plan B as it was smooth and flawless.
A last minute pep talk with his father and Ari joined the guests at the alter with his groomsmen.
Ari's family is jewish, so we had two officiants for the ceremony. Both were fitted with wireless lapel mics so that they could be heard loud and clear all the way to the back of the room.

 Mazel Tov!!

I love the scored, concrete floors at Marie Gabrielle...very classy. I remember Amy telling me during the planning phase of her wedding that she and Ari were both Huey Lewis fans. I couldn't resist formally introducing them to their wedding guests and their reception with "Power of Love" as the soundtrack. Trust me...it sounds a bit corny unless you were actually there...it really set the tone for the rest of the evening.
They danced to 'Unchained Melody'...a timeless classic. That song always fills up the loving mood of the room really well.
I can't resist this moment. This is absolutely one of the most special moments that a father will ever experience...I love this part of my wedding receptions. Mr. Higginbotham was like this all night...so proud of his daughter and her future with Ari. They danced to another classic, "The Way You Look Tonight"
I remember dancing with my mother on my wedding day...so I can most definitely relate to the meaning of this dance for Ari and his mother. Mrs. Lund looked really beautiful and had a big smile on her face like this all evening.
This was just after dinner when the guests were just finishing their plates and we moved Amy and Ari to their cake to get dessert started and pass out champagne for a few toasts from some family members.
Amy commented on this photo, "My father gave a great speech. I am laughing here because he is making what I am sure is a corny joke. The speeches went great because Colby was able to have the sound inside and outside so everyone could hear them." Marie Gabrielle is a wonderful inside-outside venue. So, indeed I had speaker coverage all about the venue so that the music could be distributed nicely at a perfect volume and so that special moments like this could easily be heard by everyone.
My wedding receptions almost always get a little crazy as the evening progresses and we move into some dancing. I remember we had a few really good, younger dancers (10 to 12 year olds). I got the younger kids dancing early to sort of break-the-ice for the rest of the guests.

This bridesmaid's boyfriend was sweating a bit after this moment...
Of course, we did the traditional Hora by putting Amy and Ari up in the chairs and dancing them around. It was such a riot. Next up in the chairs were the mother and father of both the bride and groom.
There ya go...a perfect wedding day. Off to the limo and honeymoon in the Mayan Riviera.
